Active Scripting Slows Performance

About two months ago my Explorer started to exhibit very
slow response on scrolling, field entries and page
changes. This not include the address field or any other
software program outside of Explorer.

I have a high speed cable modem connection and verified
with my ISP that all is working.

Through trial and error I discovered if I disable the
active scripting option it works up to the speed I am
familar with. Unfortunately this limits my navagation
options in an actual web page.

I have run Ad-Aware from Lavasoft and Anti-Trojan from
Anti-Trojan Network. This cleaned out the known parasites
and Trojans.

I have went to the Microsoft web page and downloaded all
updates for my system (Window 98) and Explorer.

Unfortunately the problem still exists.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a solution. I've posted about
this a couple times over the past few days and pretty much figured out
the same think you did ... active scripting sucks. What's really odd is
that I have the slow scrolling problem on 3 sites I visit and that it
started on each site on exact same day.

Thanks for your reply.
This problem for me is not site dependent. All sites are
affected. It must be a newer virus that has not
proliferated yet. Do you use Windows 98?
