When I turned on my computer this morning, it said my
activation period for Windows XP has expired and I need
to activate the product before I can log in. ???? I have
already activated Windows, and have been using it for
over a year. I clicked through the activation wizard and
it said it couldn't do it over the internet. So I tried
it again and it worked. However, if I turn it off, then
restart, it tells me I need to activate Windows (again!).
So far it has let me 'activate' it twice, and failed
about four times. Please help me fix this.

Possible Resolution:

Boot into "Safe Mode" by pressing F8 during the boot cycle.

Go to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 regwizc.dll , and hit enter.
Then go again to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 licdll.dll , and hit enter again.

Apparently, and I can't say how, the above files became unregistered.
