Activation of Office 2003?

Hi

I just bought MS office 2003 Standard edition from Staples.
But during install it says that I have to activate it. Is this necessary and
do I have to do it?
Never seen this before as I still use win98.
Please advise.

Yes, it is required - you have 30 days to activate.
