Hi Guys,

I have the following situation. The hd on my laptop is
getting flaky. Can I transfer the license for my XP
Professional from my laptop to my desktop system or must
I transfer it only to a replacement hd for my laptop? In
either case I'll be working with a new hd so I think I'll
need to reactivate my xp professional. Anyone know who I
should be contacting about getting a (re)activation key?

BTW: I bought my XP Professional last year when I had a
MSDN subscription (which has since lapsed /sigh).

If XP was part of the MSDN subscription, you'd be best off asking them what
you can do with your license.

Hello
the only way you can do this is if it is a retail version of XP and you
uninstall it from your laptop,(1 copy 1 computer) if it came installed on
your laptop then it is more then likely an OEM version and in that case you
will either have to purchase a copy for your Desktop or a harddrive for your
laptop.
OEM=original equipment manufacturer and must stay with the computer
originally installed and licensed on.
