I puchsed my custom built pc over a year ago and assumed
it had already been activated especially since I've never
recieved messages to activate and I am obviously passed
the allotted 30-60 days to do so. I recently restarted my
pc after downloading and installing critical updates at
microsoft.com (in which I could swear they were updates
already or previously installed) and at start up I
recieved a message saying my activation information had
been lost and in order to resume I had to actiavte
again. So when asked if I would like to activate now I
choose yes (otherwise I remain locked out anyway) but
nothing happens I get a white box/screen labeled Product
Actiavtion but nothing happenes and I've waitd hours.
Let me mention also that I am or was connected to the
internet with cable internet always on so....

Any and allinformation will be greatly appreciated.
Please help asap - I need to have access to my pc asap

Thank you

Use Start- Run and enter the following text in the dialog box:
regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll

Then do it again with the following text:
regsvr32.exe licdll.dll

If you cannot do this when starting up normally try booting Windows XP
into Safe Mode. To do this turn on the computer and start tapping the
F8 key rapidly when the first information of any kind shows on the
screen. Keep tapping until the Windows XP Startup Menu appears and
choose Safe Mode from the menu. When that has finished booting up try
the above commands.

Good luck
