Finally got rid of Blaster and Welchia worms. Reinstalled
XP. On the reinstall of XP activation required. The
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools menu items do
not include the one for activation.

Tried to get support from MS. Product id required. Message
says "Windows cannot find "helpctr.exe" that should lead
me to product id.

Any suggestions?

Hello
if you run the restore CD's there is no need for
activation
if the activation is not in the programs then it is
already activated
Hope this is what you needed

Jim, Thanks for the info. I hope that happens however, each day I'm getting the countdown on the "16 days to activate, click here" message. When I click the message disappears. Additionally, I do not have restore cds, only the one WinXP cd I purchased from Best Buy. Tom

Tom, if you re-installed XP you had to have used a Product Key during the
installation process ... if you've forgotten what it was, you can use the
following site to view it:
http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml

As far as the second issue of activating the program, Start, Run the
following (or create a shortcut to it to place in your System Tools
folder):
%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /A

That should lead you through the activation process. If neither of the
above addresses your problem, post back.
