Opinions on which is best, easiest, safest when installing a new HD to
replace an older one.
Both SATA
Xp media
Athlon 64
512 mb RAM
Original has "D" recovery section.

Am I just dreaming for a real working clone?

As far as Acronis VS. Norton I think Acronis is better according to reviews
that I've read online. I installed Acronis on my cousin's PC so he can backup
his whole HDD and it has worked great, I believe there is a limited demo you
can download off their website. I think amazon.com has extensive user reviews
and don't forget to visit newegg.com.

I use Acronis 9 and it works flawlessly...
Acronis 10 will also work in Vista!
Fast and easy...

Had both - Acronis wins hands down.

Thanks everyone and yes I looked at the references.

I did that with a similar system with a RAID 0 array. One died, so I
replaced both, booted the Acronis recovery disk, and restored the last
image from a USB drive, including incrementals. Exclusive of the time
needed to get and install the replacement disks, I was back running in
about 45 minutes. Windows verification did grumble at me, but I took
care of that online.

If you have a wireless keyboard and mouse, even the latest version
does not properly support all of them. I had to drag out an old wired
mouse and keyboard. Fortunately, I had tested that, and when I picked
up a $10 keyboard, the clerk asked whether I was running Ghost or True
Image. So the problem is not limited to Acronis, though I wish they
would fix it.

PowerQuest DriveImage 7 works well for me and has saved my butt a
number of times, with both Win98 and XP(Home SP2). I believe
Norton bought PowerQuest (and "disimproved" it?).

You're right there.
I used to use Drive Image when it ran from 2 floppies, never failed once.
Shame they were bought out.
