I have been using Xp for 6 months now and after a recent
bout with a worm my program has been freezing shorlty
after start-up. The system event viewer is showing the
error: AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an
illegal IO port address (0x70), which lies in the 0x70 -
0x71 protected address range. This could lead to system
instability. Please contact your system vendor for
technical assistance.. Well I was not to sure who the
vendor for my bios is since it is a fairly old machine and
sort of like a frankenstein. So I have contacted esupport
and they have offered to sell me an upgrade. Well that is
great and I hope it would solve my problem but how was it
working before the worm if I was already out of date. Can
someone please point me in the right direction to solving
this problem. I can only run my computer in safe mode and
I even tried going back to windows 98 to solve this
problem still nothing please help.

Computer manufacturer or mother board manufacturer needs to be contacted for
BIOS update. Other than that you need to search for an update on the 'net if
you know the chips.
