account lockout in xp

does anyone know how to disable the automatic lockout of accounts in
win xp?

some of my users are leaving their desks to find that they have been
locked out and they have to put their password back in. i want to
disable this feature

I'm not 100% sure of what you are describing... I'm
thinking you are talking about how after a certain length
of inactivity the user is logged out and has to log in
again, and use their password if they have a password on
their account.

If this is the case, that feature is there in order to add
a little extra security to the system, to make sure no one
comes up and uses the computer while that person is away.
If, based on whatever you use your computers for, you
decide that you do not need that security, going through
the control panel you can set how users log on, and
whether the welcome screen (login screen) is brought up
after the periods of inactivity.

Control panel, admin, local security policy, account policy, if you
really meant 'lockout' .. that's what happens when a user gets their
password wrong more than N times.

However what you probably meant was the need to enter a password after
screen saver kicks in. You can fix that on screen saver page ('on
resume, display welcome screen' - untick it).
