this question is about installing and removing windows
programs, from control panel, without needing to insert
the xp service pack cd.
i remember when using win98 i was able to copy the win98
folder from the setup disk to the HDD, and run setup and
manipulate the add/remove applet without needing to put in
my setup cd. i recall having to do some editing in my
registry at one point, and i think ive had the same thing
happen with xp, but i cant remember what i did.
i would just like to install and remove programs from the
XP control panel, without having to keep putting in my xp
CD. this has got to be possible, but i just cant figure it
out. ive copied the i386 folder from the cd to C:\WINDOWS
that didnt work. then i changed all references to the cd
drive. that worked once, but by the time i restarted my
computer, my registry changes remained intact but the
computer still asked for the setup cd when i wanted to add
a windows program.
please, someone help me....
thanks
