I cannot access any secure sites, i get
res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm#https://scgi.ebay.co.uk/saw-cgi/eBa...rId=2&siteid=3&ru=&pp=&pa1=&i1=-1&pageType=-1
when trying to sign into ebay securely, and similar messages for all other secure site
I am running XP home and IE sp6 with encryption showing as 128 bi
I have got SSL2 & SSL3 enabled in advance setting
I have no firewall installed and the windows firewall switched off (recently uninstalled norton
I have no known viruses/trojans/worms (checked by Norton AV and AVG
I have re-registered all DLLs as of http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=813444 and recieved confirmation that each has worke
I have tried using a different browser, and a different user profil
I have run the SFC successfull
I have checked that the MS cryptographic service has starte
I have run an XP Repair from the XP dis
I have rebooted after each change (probably not necessary but worth a shot!
Also, i cannot connect to the internet with any online games, although i can view non-secure webpages
I am connecting through an ADSL router with standard MS Home ip range on the local LAN (192.168.0.x 255.255.255.0
I am using the same router settings as all the other LAN PCs which can access secure sites and web games normall
I am considering that this could be a problem at system level as it applies to all users on this computer, but refreshing and reregistering all the .dlls, running the SFC and the repair are making me wonder....
could it be anything to do with removing norton internet security? i know it acts as a proxy seperate to the computers own networking system, and an uninstall that didn't fully work could cause problems with address redirection...
anybody got any ideas at all?! I'm running out fast!!
