accessing pw protected folders on old hd

I had a pc that died, running xp. Installed hd on new pc as 2nd dr. How can
I access pw protected files. Anyone have any suggestions?

The only way to access password protected files is with the password,
unless you want to take a chance with password crackers (inwhich case
you're looking in the wrong newsgroup.)

Could you possibly be referring to the EFS encryption of XP Pro? If you
backed up the password key you'll be able to access those files and
folders. Otherwise it's 'syonara'.

Or perhaps your problem is not really about password protection but
simply about accessing the files and folders in your old user account?
If that's the case all you have to do is take ownership of the account.
