Hi, I really hope someone can help me with this. I
haven't been able to get my Hotmail set up with Outlook
2000. The "Help" section directions in Hotmail say to
choose "HTTP" under "add a new e-mail account" and then
select Hotmail as the HTTP Mail Service provider . . . but
Outlook 2000 only has POP3 and IMAP as choices (no HTTP).
I've tried entering pop.hotmail.com etc. as the server
name (and also everything else I can think of) but it
doesn't work. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks!

I'm having the same issue and am was looking for help with the same question. Any help would be appreciated

I found the answer, and I don't like it. Believe it or
not, you can't do it from Outlook 2000 but CAN with
Outlook Express 6 (!!!) I am going to have to upgrade to
Outlook 2002.

There is a workaround where you can view your Hotmail in a
different folder than the inbox in Outlook 2000, but it is
basically like viewing a web page. You still have to sign
in to your Hotmail account each time separately (and I
have several of them). They can't be pulled into your
Outlook 2000 inbox. This is total *#@! from Microsoft.

Do a search on the site for Microsoft Knowledge Base
Article 234704 entitled "OL2000: How to View Hotmail
Messages in Outlook 2000". So much for seamless
integration.

By the way, supposedly you can do this with Outlook 2002
or 2003 (I'm running Windows ME so I can't upgrade to
2003). Log in to your Hotmail account, click on Help, and
then search for "Outlook". It gives directions on how to
set it up for 2002 or 2003 (but you might already know
that).
