Accessing custom document properties in Word?

Does anyone know if it is possible to determine whether or not a custom
document property exists in a Word document from Excel?

If so, can you give me a clue? My code so far:

Dim wdApp As Word.Application
Set wdApp = New Word.Application
wdApp.Documents("Name.doc").????
