I have both Access 97 and Access 2000 on my computer. OE 5.5 is my default
email app. Lotus notes is also on my computer. ISD just updated Lotus Notes
to version 6. Now if I try to send a snapshot report from Access 97, it
opens Lotus Notes instead of OE. ISD says they can't figure out how to
change it.

I know I can send the snapshot to a file and then attach it to an OE
message, but I'd like to be able to do that directly from Access.

Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks for any help!

Open Control Panel and then select Internet Options. In the Internet
Properties window, click the "Programs" tab and check to see which program
is selected as the Default E-mail program.

hth,

It says Outlook Express for Default email. And it is that for everything
except Access97. For Access 2000 snapshots, it does call up OE. Only
Access 97 calls up Lotus.

ISD said it had something to do with Access 97 not using the registry???

A97 uses the default Mail API client, not the default email
client. I am surprised that Notes has been installed as the
default MAPI client - Notes is not a native Microsoft MAPI
application, needs a conversion layer to respond to MAPI at
all, and, as in your situation, IT seldom wants Notes to
respond to the Mail API anyway.

Our company is merging with another one and they required the Lotus Notes
update to version 6. This is the version that is causing the problem.
Version 5 still allowed A97 snapshots to call OE. Is there any way to
change the default Mail API client so that A97 can call OE? (Access 2000's
snapshots do call OE).

Thanks,
Sheila

I am not an expert! I suspect that your Mail Profile (control panel, mail,
profile) is set
incorrectly.

Well, thanks for trying, but there is no option in the mail profile that
seems to affect this. Especially since it only seems to be a problem with
Offfice97. Office2000 stuff does pull Outlook Express.
