since I"m only working with access my question is
will it have everything that goes with access i.e.
queries reports etc

Yes. Access as a stand alone product is complete. If Access is the only
Office product, you will lack the automation that you can achieve when you
install the full Office Suite of products. I personally have been using the
complete suite since Access 2.0 in 1994.

If you work with others, you will find, in short order, a demand for the
databases you write. You will find that you will want to feed data to Excel
charts and write Word merge letters.

I will have everything that normally comes with access. There is also
an developer's version, but that is a professional version.
