When "working" out of Explorer ( my directory) I am always getting this
message & wonder if anybody know why or what. :-)
"Access violation at address 00000079. Read at address 00000079.

I click okay, everything disappears from my desktop, but comes back in a
sec, minus most of my icons on the right hand side. To get all of them back
I have to re-boot. This has been happening for a long time & wonder if it is
maybe time to format??

Any help is appreciated.

Have you tried a repair install? This should keep all data and programs
intact. You'll need to apply all updates again from the windows update
site. Make sure you have a full and complete backup of important data
because though a repair install is non destructive things can go wrong. You
should always have a full and complete backup at all times.
