I get a message form Outlook that it closed access to two "dangerous"
attachements I received with mail from my friend. Outlook shows the names of
the two attached .doc files. It asks whether to save those files, I
accept, but nothing happens. I can not find these "saved" files anywhere.
What to do to get access to those files???

When you save attachments (i.e. Save As), Windows should, by default, place
you in "My Documents". If it doesn't, you should always browse to a folder
you know about, like "My Documents".

Assuming Outlook placed the saved files in its attachment cache, you can
find them like this:

Open a command line window. At the command prompt, enter:

cd %USERPROFILE%|Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
dir

Look for a folder whose name starts with OLK and is followed by a string
that is a combination of letters and digits, for example, "OLK41A". Now,
click Start>Run and enter

%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLKxxx

(where "xxx" is that string you observed) and click OK. You'll now get a
Windows Explorer window that shows you the contents of Outlook's attachment
cache. Your two attachments should be there. Move them to a folder like
"My Documents" where you know you'll be able to find them.

Do you have information re: how long the files are stored in the OLK folders?
Do the files become purged after XX amount of time? I am looking for more
information re: the security of the data in the OLK folders.
