When I try to either change a font color in one field, or try to print on
legal-sized paper in Access, I receive a "...encountered a problem and must
close..." error message. I have the latest office updates installed and the
problem persists. Does anyone know of a patch to solve this problem? I've
searched the microsoft knowledgebase with no success.

The form or report is corrupt. Below are some resources on corruption issues.
Having the latest patches is very good, but unfortunately not a cure-all.

Tony Toews has an excellent web page on database corruption.
http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/corruptmdbs.htm

Allen Brown also has excellent info on corruption.

I have a white paper in a Word document named Fix Corrupt Access Database
towards the bottom this page:

I am having the same problem but I can (and have)put the data base in
question on a different PC and it works properly. I would think this
eliminates the idea the data base is corrupt. There has to be something on my
laptop causing this problem. My plan right now is to reload everything on a
new hard drive. If anyone has a better idea please speak up.

If it only occurs on one machine and only when you change a visual element
or try to print, I'd check for updates to graphics & printer drivers for
that machine. Also make sure you have an updated version of Access (but pass
on Access 2003 SP3 for the time being).
