I store leads on my Phillips CD burner from Windows XP
Professional. Normally I have no problems pulling up
files from the CD. However following a email program with
World Merge, I found that I could not access my Excel
Files on the CD. The error message was : "You don't have
access to this folder'E:\..See your administrator for
access to this folder.
I am lost any help out there?
Thanks
Hal

I doubt that this is really an Excel problem.

First thing I'd do is to copy the files to your hard disk drive and
see whether you can work on them there. Second thing I'd do is never,
EVER use CD-R's / CD-RWs (or any other removable media) as the primary
storage medium for critical files. There's an interesting article in
this month's Australian Personal Computer magazine which suggests that
CD-Rs can become unreadable within a mere 2 years because of the
increasing use of cheaper materials, amongst other things. I'm not
saying that they shouldn't be used as a backup medium, (with backups
of backups used as well), but for most purposes I think it's safer to
work on files from an HDD and simply copy them to (say) a CDRW disk or
a USB memory vault if you need them to be mobile.
