I have two XP Pro computers connected via a 4 port router and I have set up a
network with the Networking wizard. Everything was fine for a while but now
one of the computers can't access the other's shared folders. They can still
both see each other though. I get the message about not having
permission...contact your administrator. Both computers are in the same
workgroup and they have the same signin name and password but only one can
access the other's shared folders...

What version of Windows do you have? on both systems?

Do you have file sharing enabled on the system that your trying to access?

Have you disabled any accounts or made any other changes like to the
security policy?

Johnny,

Start by making sure that this is not a browser problem.

Then check for authentication issues.

They are both XP Pro SP2. Either with or without the XP firewall on; doesn't
matter. No Changes to user accounts or passwords. File sharing is on for
both too.
The crazy thing is that a shortcut on the desktop to the other computer's
shared folder still works but when you go through my network places and click
on that computer through 'view workgroup computers' I get the unauthorised
message...
I'll check those sites.
Thank you.
