Thanks for any info.

Companies are unlikely to pay you a huge amount for developing Access apps
because they think Access is just another plinky-plonky Office app like
Word. If you want to earn big money then contracting/freelancing is the way
to go ... in the UK at least. IMO.

Keith.

Is that true? Is Access a plinky-plonky office app? Or can business
really depend on it for maintaining and entering data with stability and
real results? Just playing the devils advocate. I love Access. So ou
firmly believe that freelancing is the way to go? How does one charge
for developing? Hourly or by the Job? What are the rates? Thank you.

The answers are of course absolutely not and abolutely yes. The problem is
not reality, but perception, but when the people in positions to make
decisions are the ones with wrong perceptions then one has to deal with
that.

No it's not, but a lot of employers *think* it is because they know nothing
of it except perhaps for a few badly designed so-called databases that some
inexperienced dabblers have thrown together.

Yes they can and do, but only if the app is developed properly in a
professional manner by an experienced developer.

Me too. A lot of Oracle-heads slag Access to the hilt but that's their
paranoia and snobbery, they've never actually used Access. I've used Oracle
and what it really lacks is a decent user-interface for the developer.

I'm a salaried employee in a big corporation and it's not making me rich,
but it is possible to get freelance and contracting work that pays up to £35
per hour. The downside is that the contracts can be short and you'd have to
travel around a bit. Are you just starting out?

Keith.

Thank You Keith...
I've been doing Access for awhile but not for any money. I'm at the
point where I would like to start making money with it so thats the
reason for the inquires. I appreciate the time you took to answer my
questions.
