All my old files are in My Old Disk Structure but I cannot access them. I
know from reading other posts that this is because they were password
protected but the solutions do not work. They tell me to go to the folder
then go to Tools Folder Options then click on the View tab. I am supposed to
de-select the box for simplified sharing but this simply is not there. Also
they say to take ownership of the file but in the properties for any folder
there is no security tab. Is there any other way I can regain access to these
files?

Sorry I'd already found this which is what I had tried to explain. I can't go
through with that as there is no Security tab in the properties for the
folder.

If there is no security tab that more than likely means you don't have
authority to change any of the settings. Log in under an Administrator
account if your running XP Pro, if your running XP Home reboot and use the
default Administrator Account in Safe Mode.

Hope this Helps,

Simon.

Simple File Sharing is only available in XP Pro's Tools > Folder Options > View tab, it is the last item listed.

If you have XP Home:
