Access and Word Mail

Hi

I have an application in Access that opens a Word Document that is linked
for Mail Merge to one of the tables. The Word Document opens however all the
Wrod Merge Toolbar is non accessable. If the user closes and reopens the word
document manually they get a warning message that SQL is trying to execute
when they say yes then the Merge Toolbar is enabled and they can continue
without problems.

Suggestions as to where the problem could be and how to overcome?

Access 2003 Runtime opposite Word XP.
