Can someone please help me resolve this problem I am having?
I’m working with Access 97 at work and at home.
I use this program for creating proposals for electrical contracting, which
has my companies unit prices set up for our client’s references. Both data
(home & work) bases are identical, but the problem is: when I create, for
example Job # 200 at home and at work I left off at Job # 199 they are no
longer in sync unless I copy the DB and paste it into the same folder &
directory at work. That works fine but it seems that I created one or two
more proposals at work and did not copy them at home, and now I’m all out of
wack. Now when I bring my portable memory stick from home or from work even
though the new data is on the portable I can only read from my local C drive
on that PC not the updated DAT file I added to.
Help Someone, Please?

Although the scenario you describe will work, I think you are setting
yourself up for disaster. Eventually you will lose or damage your most recent
version and lose data permanently. Most people that I know who work at home
and at the office with a common database use some sort of remote access
instead of trying to copy the database and keep the most recent version with
you at all times. Choose the location where you use the database the most and
keep it located there. Then if you are running Windows XP use Remote Desktop
to work with the database from the other location. I do proposals this way
myself with an Access database. I do most of my proposal at home after hours
but during the day I can always create a proposal using remote desktop. It is
not blazing fast but it works and my proposals stay in sync numerically.
