Access 97 on Windows XP

We've recently upgraded our hardware and software and we
now have Windows XP. But the boss didn't want to upgrade
Access because he was afraid he would lose his database.
Now I can load Office 97 onto Windows XP and Word, Excel,
Outlook and PowerPoint will but Access won't. I get the
following error messge.

Microsoft Access can't start because there is no license
for it on this machine.

So right now I am having to use 2 computers just so I can
use Access. Since Microsoft discontinued support of this
product, can anyone out there help me? I would greatly
appreciate it.
