I've been told that the '03 version of this uses the
actual sql engine and the only limitation for the db is
the computer running the software. Is it true there is no
size limitation on the '03 databases and it runs using the
actual SQL engine?
 
That is not true. There is a "crippled" version of SQL-Server offered as one
of the 2 database engines available with Access. The "crippled" version is
called the MSDE and is limited to 2 GB, the same as JET (the other engine).
There is also a connection performance issue which shouldn't cause too much
of a problem, unless you have a lot of users and/or huge datasets to
calculate. The MSDE has been offered since Access 2000.
