i think we had a similar problem at my school. it took me a while to
figure out why.
is your default printer connected over a network?
is your default printer an HP?
if you are over a network are the computer OS's the same?
are the drivers current?
the problem i finally found had to do with a driver failure / conflict
with HP printers when trying to print from one version to a print server
with a different version (driver and os). updating the drivers every
where solved the problem. for the longest time we had to set the
default printer to anything other than the 1 printer that we could print
to. this is a documented problem on the HP web site i think.
Hi Wayne
Thank you for the suggestions.
I do have a printer assigned as the default printer.
However I am sharing the database with collegues.
If they were to try to open a report and have not had a default printer
assigned would this cause the problem?
These are all of the different responses I get when trying to open a report
from a form Button I have created
1. I get a message box saying "The OpenReport action was canceled." no
options just an OK Button.
2. I get a message "This document was previously formatted for the printer
on
IP_10.20.13.36, but that printer isn't available. Do you want
to use the default printer \\bls13dc10\13lbw002468hp?" I can click on OK ,
Setup.. or Cancel and I get the same Message "The OpenReport action was
canceled."
If I try to open the reports from the database window I either get a report
to open of absolutely no responce at all.
When I try to view the report in design view this also does nothing on some
reports but does work on others.
I hope that someone can fathom this out for me.
