When I select a table from which to select the fields for my labels, I get a
message that the table does not contain any fields, and that area is greyed
out. How can I resolve this issue?

Does your table only contain memo fields? Does this happen for every table,
every MDB, every printer, every something else?

No, I don't think the fields are memo fields. they are names and addresses.
Yes, it applies to all tables in all DBs; I don't understand your other
references. I only have one printer.

Is that "no" to the first question, second question, or both?
Do you have a default printer designated in the Windows Control Panel.

I cannot create /edit /display/any reports, nor do any of the wizards work.
Yes, I do have a default printer designated in the WCP.
I wonder whether the problem is associated with the 'Analyse' feature in
Access 2003, which suggests that one cannot have duplicate date in different
lines in a field e.g.Surname field; that would make trying tocreatei mailing
labels more than irksome

If none of your wizards work then you should do a google (or news group)
search on "Access 2003 wizards don't work". I tried this and got lots of
hits.
