I usually write my academic essays using Word. However, I see there is little
if no features in Word helping me to construct an essay: no outline sheets,
no marking on where I want to want more on. In future version of Word, I
would like to see the following features:
1. A to-dos panel like those in Outlook to help me jot down main ideas
2. The to-dos list would feature flags that let me jump quickly to where I
want. E.g.: "'Provide examples on this topic' at line 20"
3. MLA, Chicago and other citation systems that will automatic convert
author name, book titles... into the proper format.

1. Use heading styles and the document map.
2. You can insert comments or endnotes to help you remember where you need
to work.
