This one has me really scratching my head.

I use Outlook 2002 and am running Windows XP home edition.
My POP3 email account has suddenly become incapable of
receiving or sending emails. My other family members have
no trouble with their accounts. I have checked the
settings in my email account and run the connection tests,
and everything works fine. I simply can't send or
receive.

Here's where it gets wierd. I have created and tried to
send some test emails messages. It's a no go (they just
sit in my Out box). But when I try to "Reply" to an
existing email in my "In" box, it sends just fine. I
don't get it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Did you use the Test Account Settings? What errors did you get when you
tried?

I recently had some equally bizarre problems with an
Outlook 2003 installations where single-address emails to
anyone (including oneself) would send fine, but messages
with multiple addresses that included oneself wouldn't
send. Beyond bizarre... Final solution was to create a
new profile, run SCANPST on the .PST file and have the new
profile point to the old .PST file. I just finally gave
up on trying to figure out the bizarre behavior and used
the "start over" approach.

HTH.

I'm having the same with outlook 2003. By the way go to
your pop3 account, to check and see if you can use it in
outlook.

Milly -

Thanks for your response. Yes, I did run Test Account
Settings. No errors - everything worked fine. Yet, I
can't send or receive. Someone suggested creating a new
profile. Anything else you would suggest I try?

Thanks!

Mike

Thanks, Steve. I'll give it a whirl.

i had similar prob. I chatted with tech on my ISP and
they had me log onto my comcast home page and check mail
there .Comcast said i had "BAD" mail in my mail box. So i
did and deleted all mail in there and now it all works
fine wierd huh!

This used to happen to me alot in the first days of MSN, I would have one
piece of "corrupt mail" (I never got a definition of what that really
meant) and it would stop me dead in the water until that was cleared out of
there. I have a few friends on Comcast and they have had the same problem,
strange one at that !

What are you using for anti virus software? Many of these
packages change the email pop3 pop server to localhost
then add to your user ID the pop server. You have to turn
off the email scan feature if this happens. Or change it
back to the correct pop address and the user ID back to
what it should be. This happens with Outlook 2002 and
2002. I have not seen it happen to Outlook 2003 yet.

What happens when you try to send - any error messages? If so, what are
they?
