I am about to upgrade to Vista Ultimate, taking advantage of a local sale
on the product. Aside from the usual smartass comments about not
bothering, or using Linux (which I do by the way) does anyone have any
suggestions as to what I should look out for? A full backup is in progress
now, so has anyone run into anything that I could benefit from hearing
about before the attempt?

Thanks

You didn't mention what product you are backing up with, but whatever it is
make sure it is also restorable. ;)

Also, not sure what you are running now, but ensuring your hardware has the
appropriate drivers (and possibly downloading them before the upgrade if you
are now using XP or "something else"). And speaking of hardware, the beefier
the better!

Probably be a good idea to get as much hardware as possible, and do a clean
install, as opposed to an upgrade, unless you are already a Vista user, then
just change your product key (Start - Control Panel - System - Change
Product Key). You may have to reactivate.

Enjoy your Ultimateness! Enjoy playing Texas Hold 'em, as well ;)!

Update failed. I could not do an inplace upgrade to Ultimate because
the process said I needed to be running SP1 which I am not. So I also
tried a clean install which failed as well complaining that it was not
able to copy installation files because they could be corrupt. Back to
the store it goes.
