Do the videos on this site work for you in IE7.
They don't here. Flash is working on other sites.

Display fine in SeaMonkey (Firefox-type suite).

Suggestions?

Are you confirming that videos at ABCNEWS.GO.COM display for you?

They use Flash. The player window appears here, but controls don't, and
there seems to be no awareness of flash (which is installed and
functioning elsewhere).

ABCNEWS works fine in IE6 on XP, using exactly the same hardware.

Not here. Player never appears, just a blank window and "done" on the
status bar.
All security settings are set to the defaults.

Suggestions?
 
Go to: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash, right click FlashUtil9b.exe, choose Run as Administrator and see if that helps.

Good thought, but no. Even gave myself full permissions. As mentioned,
Flash works fine at other sites - at the THIS site in XP's IE6, and with
another browser.
 
Sorry that didn't help.
It DOES work here (Vista Ultimate x86) -- all videos play just fine.
