What revision is your motherboard? It depends on the revision of the A7V333
that you have. If it's an older revision, (1.x) it does not support this
processor. If it's revision 2.0, I believe it will support 333MHz FSB
processors or at least most of them. I have an Asus A7V333 motherboard
myself, and I upgraded to an AMD Athlon XP 2400+ because I have an older
revision. (I would have gone much higher if it supports it.) I think it
supports up to the XP 2600+ 266MHz FSB version if it's the older revision.
If it's the 2.0 revision, I believe it's the 3000+ 333MHz FSB. My second
question to you is, if you can get the 2800+, do you have at least PC-2700
RAM?

12.5 x 166 is instable and it's the max!

And yes, you probably could use the 2800+ with the older revision, but it
would be at a reduced speed. I tried to overclock my 2400+ just a little
bit with my A7V333 and it started rebooting itself. I had PC-3000 RAM and
even adjusted the voltage. Made no difference. The only thing I was able
to do at best was either increase the multiplier just a little bit (which
makes little if none) of a difference. If I overclocked the FSB ANY, the
multiplier had to be reduced and I was only able to up the FSB by 1 or 2 in
order to keep the system stable. I decided to forget about it and I dropped
the CPU speed back down to where it's supposed to be. 133 * 15 @ 2GHz. I
did for about a month had it going @ 2.2GHz, (multiplier increased only) but
I noticed no difference at all in speed.
