a "yes or no" Q

I keep finding .dbx files for some alt.binaries under
c:/doc&set/[user]/localset/appdata/identities
[random]/microsoft/outlook that shouldn't be there. I keep
deleting them, but they keep showing up. Is there any way
for a .dbx file to get onto a harddrive unsolicited by
anyone who is using the computer? Or does someone using
that computer have to purposfully view the group for the
dbx files to be created? I'm tying to find out if they are
there on purpose or by accident. This is very important;
if there is absolutely any reasonable way the files could
be put there without anyone's knowledge, please let me
know. Thanks!

AFAIK the newsgroup HAS to be viewed and headers at least, downloaded to
create the relevant dbx file.
