A Warning about Recovery Disks

Just to let you know; I was working on a ThinkPad that had an unfixable
virus.
It wrote to all executables and scr's and the MBR. The only way to save
the drive was to zero it out. (which erased the hidden partition that
the recovery disks needed) Using a special boot disk to install the OS
the Thinkpad has a problem with resources on the pci bus. I later found
out that a supplemental disk from Leveno was needed to install the OS if
not using the recovery disk.
My only recourse now is to format, use the supplemental disk, then
reinstall the OS. All this because the customer was using Norton 2003,
and no virus pattern updates.
What a mess!

Instead of wiping the disk, you could have used the Leveno
feature to restore the disk to factory condition.
