I tried downloading a trial version of Norton Pro to correct for a possible
virus infection as advised by a previous response to the following post that
I made on Oct. 8, 2003.

I have a PIII, 500Mhz, 128 Mram, 20gig HD. Lately I've noticed Interner
Explorer crashes but only on certain web pages. Outlook Express has been
doing this also, but not as often. Also when I bring up task manager, it
closes within less than a second. I also cannot access MSCONFIG, unless this
is not available in XP. Help is appreciated.

However, when I tried installing the program, it kept crashing and wouldn't
install. This also happened to another A/V program I tried to install. Any
suggestions?

Mark

Retail CD or, warez version? Remember, you get what you pay for!

(snip)

I don't think it's an issue of warez. I think that Mark's machine is
already infected with something. Mark, since there's no way to tell
what actually ails your machine, I can't offer any more specific advise
than it would probably be smart at this point to take the box to a good
local computer repair shop (not a BestBuy/CompUSA store) and have them
clean it up.
