A Startup screen

I recently had a problem with XP Pro (fixed now) and in trying to solve it
I tried re-installing XP in top of itself. That install did not work but as
a result a boot/dos screen appears just after the inital screen (mem
check/drives page) that gives two options, "start Win XP Pro or enter setup"
with the setup highlighted and I have to use the up key and enter to get win
to start. How do I get rid of this page and have computer start normally??
Any suggestions, Please!!!

Once the PC has booted up right click on the My computer icon go to
properties/advanced , then go to start up and recover click settings edit
the boot.ini file , removing the one you do not want ..

start, run, msconfig, boot.ini tab, 'check all paths'.
