I don't know whether this is the correct place to ask but I figured I would
try. I havea Dell with XP...tried to get into word and didnt work..had to
sign everyon off...rebooted and the windows logo came up showing it was
loading..after 5 minutes I tried it again and same thing..then things went
really crazy with messages...registry file failure...the last part of the
messsage was..beginning dump of physical memory. Phys memeory dump
complete..contact your tehc support...that is what I did and Dell had me on
the line for over an hour...we opened the case 2 times and the person said it
was the mother board and battery. I had the feeling she did not know
anything about the computer cause she kept putting me on hold. Anyone can
help? They are sending the new mtoherboard but I dont think its going to
help. Usually they make you go thru steps but this time they didnt.

Putting you on hold is so they can research their Knowledge Base.
They (Support) rarely if ever know how to fix/resolve issues. In a
few cases they will go and ask the actual "Technical" people about
your issue. Likely your drive had problems or inconsistencies that
eventually caused part of the Registry Hive to not load. This would
prevent XP from booting. A "Repair" install would likely resolve
your issue. A motherboard swap in this case is probably akin to a
Heart Transplant for a blocked artery.
