A question concerning copying files

Hi,

My computer has two hard drives, both currently using Windows XP. On one
of them, files were rendered unreadable under normal circumstances due to
some sort of computer problem, but since I never reformatted the drive, I
believe the files may be recoverable. However, I need to reformat that
drive, so I can install Windows 98 on it to be able to read some CDs
containing backup files which were made when I was using Windows 98.

If I copy the entire drive which I want to reformat and paste it into my
other drive, will the computer copy also the files which currently I cannot
see but which I believe are still on the drive, or will it only copy those
that I can find at the moment?

Sincerely,

Hi, Hubert.

That depends on what the REAL problem is.

I recently recovered files from a volume with an unreadable NTFS by using
R-Studio ($80 USD - www.r-tt.com). You might see if that can help with your
problem. It let me move all my files from that volume to a different HD;
now I can reformat that bad volume.
