I am looking for an alternative to foldershare because it has
connection problems on my pc...

any ideas?

What problems are you having with FolderShare? Have you tried
contacting their support? Are you using a broadband router? If so you
should power-cycle it since many of those are very buggy and drop
connections after 30seconds.

I have looked on the site for some solution but what is happening is
strange. I have the same problem with an older version, AND the latest
version.

I have XPsp2, I am connected directly to the internet via an ethernet DSL
modem and I have the xp firewall enabled. No router, no other firewall. In
the exeptions of the xp firewall I have added foldershare
and also opened ALL the ports that foldershare supposedly uses.
However foldershare tries to connect and cannot (it says logging in), and
furthermore it
makes the CPU work 100% and makes the pc unstable by making svchost go 100%,
only after I close foldershare does this stop.
If I turn off the xp firewall, then foldershare CAN connect....then I can
re-enable the firewall and it remails connected.. but this is not a good
solution since it is very irritating.

Any ideas would be helpful.

Kenny,

FolderShare only needs to connect out on port 443 - the problem is the
configuration of Microsoft's firewall. For some reason you have not
configured your firewall to allow FolderShare. When you use an
application for the first time, Windows Firewall pops up and says do
you want this program to have access? You might have hit no before
accidently and thus are in the problem you are in today. Try
re-installing FolderShare to see if that wakes up Windows Firewall.

Hello, the problem was solved by resetting the MS firewall via a button it
has for resetting... then I was asked again about allowing foldershare (and
all the other programs too) and it works now...
The strange thing is that I did have foldershare as an allowed app before
AND all the ports open.
Seems that there was something strange going on.

I searched for a good alternative for foldershare... but there was not even
ONE that has its ease and simplicity.
The only objection I have is that you have to pay a continuing fee if you
want to be a paid member....
A one time fee would be better.
Its a great software... hope the basic function remains free.

Are you a member of the foldershare support team?

Thanks for your help...
