a page over the desktop

Running xp prof and when I boot up, I get a display page that which is yellow
in colour saying my pc infected with spyware etc....'. I can only
minise/shrink this page but it will not disappear. How can I get rid of this
message/page. Thanks
 
Did you think that this may be trying to tell you something?

What spyware or antivirus programs do you have installed on the system?

Have you run a safe mode full scan with a fully updated antivirus software
package as well as at least two malware programs? Spybot and Ad-aware are
good.

Go through the preparatory steps here:

When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the
specialty forums listed at the link above (not here, please).

After you've removed the malware, if the desktop picture still remains:

Go to the Display applet in Control Panel and look on the Desktop tab.
Click on Customize Desktop, and then click on the Web tab. You will see
that there are checkmarks next to "My Current Home Page" and probably
"Lock Desktop Items". Uncheck these. By highlighting the "My Current
Home Page" and clicking on the Properties button, you will be able to
determine the name of the file that is the message. It might be called
something like "security.html" or the like.

Click Apply and OK out when you've made your changes. Then you want to
find the *.html malware file and delete it.

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting
this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop (not your local version of BigStoreUSA).
