The same message keeps replicating itself in my inbox whenever I hit send
receive.

I've checked my server and see that the message is not being constantly sent
to me; somehow it just keeps replicating itself on the send / receive command.

This started a month ago and then went away. It has since reappeared twice.
the only way to get rid of it is to create a delete rule. But by the end of
the day my deleted items is up to 300 messages!
Norton does not find any viruses on the system ... ANY IDEAS????

This seems to be like the message that I posted before
yours. My user is receiving duplicate/triplicate emails --
yet the user next to her is fine. Hope we get an answer.

thanks - Susan

If you are working with a POP3 mailbox, do you have web access to said
account? Does it appear that the message is stuck on the server?

If you don't have web access to the mailbox and working with a POP3 account,
you might try giving Magic Mail Monitor a go. It will give you another way
to clear a message that might be stuck on the server.

The only other thing I can think of, watch for end users that create 2 or
more POP3 accounts that point to the same mailbox. This can also
duplication of messages when least expected.

And this just came to mind since antivirus was mentioned. If you have an
antivirus package that is installed that can scan pop3 email as it is
fetched, try disabling the scanning of e-mail. (The antivirus program acts
as an agent between Outlook and the mail server. It could be introducing an
unknown compatibility problem.)

McAfee and NAV will often cause this. They find a message with a virus on
the server and thereafter Outlook never gets a chance to do a complete
Send/Receive and leaves messages on the server. The solution, as you have
mentioned, is to purge the mailbox. For this reason, I disable antivirus
email integration.

BillR and neo, you qualify as geniuses, at least to this Microsoft amateur!
I followed your advice and cleared out the Inbox on my Comcast email account
(I don't delete them upon dowloading to Outlook so I can access email
remotely) and this solved the problem! Sure 'nuf, there were two suspicious
emails in the "screened emails" folder, presumably virus laden. You're the
men!

THANKS!
