Hello, I was trying to install Photoshop CS2 on my computer and I keep
recieving the folloring error:
" This installation package could not be opened. verify that the
pacjage exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor
to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."

So i go everywhere looking to fix it. I've been to as many of these
microsoft topics attempting to fix this but nothing has been working. except
when o found this one topic that could possibly help me, but the thing is, I
can't follow it.

Method one I tried and it didn't work.... but for Method two- :
Method 2: Verify the DCOM permissions
This method involves changing the DCOM default impersonation level to
Identify, removing the Msisip.dll file, and then reinstalling SP 3 for
Windows 2000.

To do this, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, click Run, type dcomcnfg,
and then click OK.
2. On the Default Properties tab:a. In the Default Authentication Level
list, click Connect.
b. In the Default Impersonation Level list, click Identify, and then click
OK.

3. Click Start, click Run, type explorer /select,
%windir%\system32\msisip.dll, and then click OK.
4. Rename the Msisip.dll file as Msisip.old.
5. Reinstall Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
=================================
I couldn't follow this because the Default Authentication Level list doesn't
show up. It just doesn't exist.
______________________________________________

Method 3: Give Full Control permission to the SYSTEM account
1. Start Windows Explorer, right-click the computer's root hard drive, and
then click Properties.
2. Click the Security tab, and then click Add.
3. In the Select Users, Computers, or Groups dialog box, click the SYSTEM
account, click Add, and then click OK.
4. Under Allow, click to select the Full Control check box, and then click
OK.
5. Click the TEMP folder and then verify that the SYSTEM account has full
control.
===========================
For this one, i don't have the Security tab on my properties windows. I went
to get some help for that and I was supposed to do something with tools from
the folder permissions, and even that thing didn't show up.

I searhed up for my topic directly from the thing and I've seen many cases
where it happens with other software but never for the one I'm trying to
install..... SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!.

.......
I have installed and reinstalled the new windows installer

article 319624 is different from what your experiencing. the article talks
about windows installer not being able to run. the error you are getting is
not related to the windows installer service itself (it is working since you
are getting this far) but rather with the package you are installing. could
be problem with the media or something else triggering this error. i would
suggest contacting adobe support.

Do you think that your installation media may be defective. Don't try to
trouble shoot a system until you "know" that you can install the program on
another computer.

was the security tab there before? is the file system ntfs or fat32? there

have you tried installing on another machine to rule out the possibility of

When you install Windows XP, the file system YOU choose at the time of
installation (fat32 or NTFS) is what you will have on your computer for the
system partition.
