See my summaries at thebottom first, then for those whose Italian is not
so good:

UNABRIDGED VERSION

"Novadys Italy together with Il.Software is pleased to gift you a full
licence of Finereader 4.0." .... etc.

The Form
Use: private (default) or company
gender: maschio is male
province of Italy:
eta: your age (defaults to "less than 10")
What OCR s/w do you use now: nothing = nessuno (default)
What brand of scanner: nothing = nessuno (default)
Which version of windows: choose one

Last Part
"Novadys newsletter offers a prize draw, future discounts and the
latest new info."

But note that there is *no* need to select the check box (which is to
ask for this this stuff) or even to fill in the email boxes if all you
want is the serial.

Press the green INVIA button. In the center of the panel on the next
page is your serial number.

You're advised to keep the number handy in case you need to contact TS
or re-install the product.

-------------------------

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

Minimum data to enter are:
Age, Gender, Province, Windows.
Then INVIA.

-------------------------

PRESIDENTIAL SUMMARY:

Seems to me that you will always get this serial:
FRB4-2000053-97214

I have tried it on a few occasions and was greatly disappointed by the
programs accuracy.
Question -

Does Simple OCR do only typed text? I heard once that it did handwriting
too. If not, do you know of one that does handwriting?

IIRC, the handwriting recognition is time-limited.

I don't reply to trolls like Andy Mabbett or Doc (who uses sock puppets)
for instance. No adware, cdware, commercial software, crippleware,
demoware, nagware, PROmotionware, shareware, spyware, time-limited
software, trialware, viruses or warez for me, please.

Calling a web service freeware is stretching the heck out of it, and if
you want privacy, you don't have it by using that service.
Also if you own MS Office, in the Microsoft Office Tools is Microsoft
Office Imaging, which is not bad in 2003 version. It's off topic, but
free if you already own the product.

Well... so are the Thesaurus, Spell Checker and Rhymer modules if you
own WordPerfect, but you don't see me recommending them in this group
just because that's so.

Thank you a lot for your inputs. I'll try Fine Reader and SimpleOCR.

One more data-point: Abby Finereader 4.0 works flawlessly with a
networked scanner (in this case, a Brother MFC).
