A few queries regarding Windows Mail

Hi all,

I've just upgraded to Vista and rather than use Outlook 2007, I've decided
to try Windows Mail, Windows Contacts and Windows Calendar to see how they
perform.

Firstly, I'm currently on a dual boot of XP and Vista. My XP installation
uses Outlook 2007 and all my e-mails, contacts and appointments etc are
stored on that. I can't find any straight forward way to get all of that data
from Outlook into Windows Mail, Contacts and Calendar. Can anybody shed some
light on that?

Secondly, is there a way to get Windows Mail to minimize to the system tray?
I like having my mail app open at all times and having it take up space on
the taskbar is a bit of a nuisance.

Last but not least, is there built in support on Windows Mail to have it
boot at startup?

Thanks for any help on these queries.

No, its not straightforward. You have to have Outlook installed in Vista to
do any transferring. The workaround is to transfer everything from Outlook
to OE in XP and then in Vista you can use File | Import and import from the
XP / OE partition. See also www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx

There was a utility posted in this newsgroup. You can search the messages
for it.

Just put the link for WinMail into the start menu programs | startup.

I do have Outlook 2007 installed on my Vista machine. I can import the mail
headers ok from Outlook into WM, but the content of the e-mails has been
converted to what looks like Chinese.

Is there a solution to this?

You need to ask the Outlook people.
