I have no access or even recognition of my a: drive on my computer.

I am running Windows 2000 and xp on the same machine.

I have narrowed the solution down to: I must give access to the everyone
group to the boot partition.

How do I do this?

I'm not sure how that relates to your A: drive, but here goes:

Open Windows Explorer (My Computer)
Right click on your C: drive,
select Security
select everyone
Click on full control.

Is it enabled in the Bios?

Ok,
The info youve got is ok, but I dont think its a windows
problem, someone mentioned "bios" and they are in the
right direction, possibly its a bit corrupt?...If on boot
up you get the der-der sound and the light on the drive
lits then your bios needs to be re-set and the only
programme I know that will do this is from an American
firm called Micro-scope 2000. This programme should fix
it, I think there is an older version on their site FOC
that should do the trick..If not I have a copy here and I
can email it to you FOC
Contact (e-mail address removed) and ill post it to
you..its a small file but blody good at doing its job!!
