Hi,

I have windows xp, and the newest version of messenger.

on the computer there are 3 users, user A,B an C. When I log in as
user A, I will get the automatic repair re-install messenger window to
popup and proceed with repairing IF user B or C have been logged in
before user A.

For users B and C, they log in and recieve the same repair and
re-install messenger window to popup and proceed with repairing IF
user A was previously logged in.

BUT if A was logged in previously, and then A is the next user to log
in, then it does not repair messenger.

if B or C was logged in previously, and B or C logs in it does not
repair messenger.

Any ideas?

Why not just delete it and get a real IM that's not so
embeded in the OS. That only makes it difficult to use
and repair.

Too bad microshaft decided to "help us out" by foisting
this rediculous crap on us once again.

But we all need this, don't we?

I'm not a teen-ager without a life. I don't need this
and don't want it.

Greetings x,

This is unfortunately an issue with the Windows Installer. You can use the Windows Installer
CleanUp Utility to fix this.

First, download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/office2000pro/util20/1/NT4/EN-US/msicuu.exe

Run and install the program after you've downloaded it. After the setup is complete, click
Start, then Programs (All Programs if you're using XP), then Windows Install Clean Up.

Click Windows Messenger 5.0 or MSN Messenger 6.0 (not sure which version you're referring to)
and then click 'Remove'. Click 'OK' to the warning message that comes up. Also, you may
need to recreate some Messenger shortcuts (you'll find Windows Messenger in \Program
Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe and MSN Messenger in \Program Files in \Program Files\MSN
Messenger\msnmsgr.exe).
