Hello

three people have sent me warnings of a new virus attached to an email,
called "a card for you". Is this a hoax please?

Henry

Haven't heard, but if you are up to date with virus protection you should be
OK...if not, then just don't open it.

Thank you anyway, I use mailwasher so wouldn't open it however I can't
say the same for the sproggs who open up anything addressed to them
regardless...

It's a hoax; and an old one at that. It was first reported over 3
years ago.

A good clue would be the blatantly obviously impossible claim that
the virus causes physical damage to the hard drive. Another clue is
the hysterical tone of the "warning."

It's important to remember that almost _any_ email virus warning
is a hoax, designed primarily to bog down email systems by having
well-meaning but uniformed people send out hundreds of otherwise
valueless email warnings. When you receive a warning like this, the
*first* thing you should do is check its veracity at one or more of
the following web sites:

Thank you. I've stored the links in my favourites & will check those
sites if and when I receive my next warning.
