some1 was talkin about a program - something like omega ! - could i get this program then unistall the ATI program? - or does omega run with the ATI program ?

i unistalled the ATI program the reinstalled it - and cleaned my register - with reg mechanic!

i also had a nivida card before - unistalled that driver !

Now where are all these ATI users when you need one?

There is a "clean-up" utility that will insure that your old drivers have been uninstalled ... damed if I can find it at the moment. :o

I do believe, from what I've read, that the omega drivers are better, but I will have to bow-out and wait for an ATI person to help you.

I'm a nVidia man and never had any problems with 'drivers' ;)

:p

Available from Guru3D

I tried them for the first time yesterday, the Omega equivalent to Catalyst drivers 4.7, and yes, I do believe they're better. Unfortunately, the Omega website appears to be down at the moment, let's hope it's temporary.

Well bully for you :p I've never had any problems with ATI drivers, FWIW. Come to think of it, haven't had any problems with Nvidia drivers either, except just the once, but that particular driver set was hastily withdrawn as I remember and it's replacement was OK.

Latest version of ATI Catalyst drivers is 4.8. I suggest downloading those from either the ATI site or Guru3D, uninstalling both the ATI Control panel and drivers from current setup, then installing V4.8.

If you do use the Omega drivers, it's vital that you remove the ATI control panel before installing.

Well thax guys

I too, untill now have alway been a nvidia man also - and also never had a problem!

First i cleaned my register, never worked - but might have helped
Then i downloaded a windows update - network frame 1.1 or something like that - thats also never worked. It does tell u on the ATI web site to make sure u have already downloaded this update (not a critical 1). I was sure i'd already downloaded it.
so i check window update again and there was and updated 1 - this worked - but i had to unistall the ATI driver and re-install them.

done a 3Dmark and got 5040

then i desided to try the omega driver as this score seams very low for a new card - other ppl are getting about 6000

omega 3Dmark was about 5068 - not much better

is there any more tweaks you could sugest - on my way to look around the forum(but i get lost lookin back)

GREAT CARD - HAS IM PROVED JOINT OPERATIONS - THE ONLY REASON FOR GETTING IT!!

Is the 6800 Ultra not better than the 9800? Or are they about the same but its just opinion?

look at these
http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20040414/index.html

scroll down and click on some of the opion under Table of Contents

then you need to look at the prices - i've got joint operation and is one of the new game old and the radeon play that great - but in a few month the new game will start to screen lag
but the 6800 will still be going strong - but then the prices will have also fallen

so it's really up to you how much you spend - but the 6800 if way better

Comparing a 9800 to a 6800?!
Madness! 6800 is a generation or two ahead!
i think......
im a Nvidia guy

wow this form has got like over 400 views!!! that must be close to a record!

the 9800 pro is on everyones minds obviously!!!! lol!
long may 9800 live then!

The 9800 Pro will be good for a whiles to come, for sure. it's a good card.

But the plain and simple truth is - there's a whole new generation of vid cards out there that will blow the 9800 Pro away. At a price.

So, what's the life expectancy of having 'the best new card on the block'? Nine months or so ? If you're lucky?

And then you see the card you paid 300 for selling for 135 and it's still respectable?

Now that's why I am usually about 6 months to a year behind in technology. Cash. Money. Readies. Pure and simple.

imo, it just ain't worth spending big bucks on the latest, that which is a little older is absolutely fine.

Having said that, I be just a sucker and a 6800GT is in my sights ;)
